Green Your Business with MassRIDES
Did you know that over 50% of New England’s ozone-forming pollutants come from vehicle emissions?
There’s no doubt about it, driving alone increases emissions, traffic congestion, and does a number on our air quality.
As a forward thinking business, you know that going green is the way to go. MassRIDES offers several programs and services to help your business incorporate transportation into your sustainability plan. Our worksite coordinators are collaborating with Green Teams, Sustainability Managers, and similar Eco-Champions at businesses across the Commonwealth, helping to make our roads a little lighter, and our carbon footprint a little greener.
We want to hear from you! Tell us how your company has integrated transportation into its sustainability plans. Send us pictures, tips, and lessons-learned. Information you provide will be featured on this page.
Here are just some of the sustainability-focused programs, services, and events we offer:
NuRide is a free benefit that you can offer to your employees today. Employees who choose to take a “greener trip” -- walking, biking, carpooling, vanpooling, public transportation, or even telecommuting-- earn points for confirming their trips at www.nuride.com. Participants can redeem those points for rewards, such as restaurant coupons or discounts at local and national retailers. And, employees who are currently driving solo can use NuRide to connect with other travelers going their same way.
NuRide supports your company’s sustainability initiatives and can help you manage parking demand. By promoting NuRide you can help reduce employees’ commuting stress, increase productivity, reduce parking needs, and even receive LEED certification points.
To get started with NuRide, contact your Worksite Coordinator or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation, through MassRIDES, the statewide travel options program, and MassCommute, the Massachusetts Council of Transportation Management Associations (TMA), supports Massachusetts employers in their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through decreased drive-alone trips while encouraging employees to travel to work by transit, carpools, vanpools, by bicycling or walking, or through support of telework programs. Annually, MassDOT recognizes employer's efforts toward making a more sustainable Massachusetts at the Massachusetts Excellence in Commuter Options (ECO) Awards. To learn more, visit our ECO Awards page!
Bay State Bike Week
This May 14th to 20th is Bay State Bike Week, a week when Massachusetts celebrates bicycle transportation. Each year, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), MassRIDES, and the Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition (MassBike) collaborate to make Bay State Bike Week an exciting statewide happening.
Visit www.baystatebikeweek.org to find local events in your area, register as a Bike Week Partner, and sign up for the MassCommuter Challenge, a friendly competition among Massachusetts businesses, educational institutions and municipalities in which employees, students and residents support their “teams” by pledging to bike for all or part of their commuting trips.
Massachusetts Car-Free Day
Massachusetts celebrates World Car-Free Day annually on September 22. Check back over the summer for more information about how your company can get involved!
